About me

Geetha Sridher

Geetha is a registered counsellor who brings together professional expertise and deeply personal understanding in her work. She offers general counselling for the various challenges faced in life including counselling for anxiety, low self esteem, relationship difficulties, family challenges and supporting those who are grieving. She specialises in grief counselling, which includes loss through relationship breakdown, health challenges and the death of someone deeply loved. She has experienced miscarriage and the devastating loss of her baby daughter, who passed away just weeks after birth in 2024. Through this profound loss, she came to know the depth of grief — the confusion, isolation, and loneliness that can arise when the world continues on while your own has changed forever.

Her lived experience informs, but does not define, her work. Instead, it deepens her capacity to sit gently and authentically with others in their pain — whether they are grieving the loss of a baby, child, parent, partner, sibling, friend, or another significant loved one. Geetha recognises that grief is not linear, that it has no timetable, and that every relationship and every loss is unique and matters.

In addition to her private practice, Geetha works as a Counsellor within a baby loss bereavement organisation, supporting individuals and families navigating pregnancy loss, neonatal loss, and the complex emotions that follow. Grounded in this work and enriched by decades of experience in the helping profession, she provides compassionate, culturally responsive care to people from diverse backgrounds. Being of Indian heritage and having been born in Singapore, she spent her early years in Singapore and later as an adult worked in Singapore in an expatriate capacity for a short stint. Having lived and studied most of her life in Australia, she brings a deep understanding of both Asian and Australian cultures and ways of life.

Over time, Geetha has learned to live alongside her own grief, carrying her daughter in her heart while continuing forward with meaning, purpose, and intention. She understands that healing does not mean forgetting; it means finding a way to integrate loss into your life in a way that honours your love.

Geetha offers a warm, respectful, and non-judgmental space where you can bring your whole self — your sadness, anger, numbness, guilt, questions, memories, and love. Wherever you are in your grief journey, she will meet you there with empathy, understanding, and gentle support.
